You – the users – are the drivers behind this

We are a user-driven association for the creation of a safe data space in which digital sovereignty over data has priority. Here, international companies from industry, services, retail trade as well as software companies are paying a contribution towards designing Industrial Data Space at many levels.

Actively contribute your expectations with regard to Industrial Data Space in the working groups of the International Data Spaces Association. Companies from all sectors jointly formulate their requirements for secure data exchange and digital sovereignty.

These are our working groups and their topics:

The objective of this working group is to ensure practical relevance, help to achieve acceptance and to spread the word about Industrial Data Space as the basis for new sustainable business models and as an essential contribution for securing the future of the member companies. Using a jointly agreed basis for use cases that cover all the basic services required to verify the principles of Industrial Data Space, the Use Cases & Requirements working group contributes to establishing a robust infrastructure.

This working group is managed by Dr. Alireza Tavakoli of thyssenkrupp AG and Dr. Sven Wenzel of Fraunhofer ISST.

The objective of the Standardisation working group is to develop a common vocabulary for Industrial Data Space and to develop the basis for simple cross-industry and open standards.

This working group is still in the start-up phase. Currently, these requirements are bundled in the working group Architecture.

The reference architecture model developed in the research project is being modified for the utilisation of Industrial Data Space in industry together with representatives from the user companies.

This working group is managed by Andreas Teuscher of SICK and Jochen Schon, Fraunhofer IAIS.

The Utilization working group deals with the design of future business models that develop as a result of using the Industrial Data Space.

This working group is still in preparation.

Develop prototypical references in so-called use cases together with scientists. Implementing these use cases makes the work of research on Industrial Data Space specific.

Sixteen specific use cases are already being implemented. Moreover, there are around 60 more candidates for use cases. The companies specify the use cases within the International Data Spaces Association themselves. New members can get involved in existing use cases at any time or initiate new use cases.

Fields of activity.

The current use cases deal with the following fields of activity “Transparency in Supply Chains”, “Improving Production and Industry 4.0” and “Support for End-to-End Customer Processes” (e.g. automobility, medical supplies). They have to be extended to all industries.

Knowledge transfer.

The insights gained during the use cases form the basis for new business models. They are to be made available for small and medium-sized companies in particular.
